Bacterial strains sensitive to fosfomycin
Staphylococcus sp., Escherichia coli, Shigella sp., Salmonella sp., Serratia sp., Proteus sp., Morganella morganii, Providencia rettgeri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Campylobacter sp.
Treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria in the following diseases:
Infections of the skin deep, cystitis, infectious enteritis, lacritis, patchy, cartilage inflammation, otitis media, sinusitis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The usual dose for adults is 2 to 3 grams of fosfomycin per day, divided into 3 to 4 times, taken orally.
The dose may be adjusted depending on the patient’s age and clinical symptoms.
As a general rule, fosfomyicin should only be used for a minimum period of time to treat a patient’s bacterial infection after confirming the susceptibility of the bacteria to the drug to avoid the risk of drug resistance.
Cotraindicated for patients who are sensitive to any components of the drug.
Nephritis – pyelonephritis or abscess around kidney
